This Brooding

This brooding doesn’t help a thing
better for us to dance and sing
and if the song is a dirge and the dance a blues
Keep on! until they change their hues
until one voice becomes a chorus
lifting all the burdens for us
and the echo of two lonely feet
becomes the thunderous stampeding beat
of an army determined to survive
and not only that but also to thrive
in spite of all the setbacks we face
to live and love in joy and grace
