Carry It On

The difficult hours
find us with ease
waiting in ambush
to bring us to our knees
even foreseen
like unavoidable rain
they will take us
into darkness again

Dammit when they come
Thank God when they’re gone
and there is no choice
but to carry it on.

The easy hours
are harder to find
warm blue skies
and a carefree mind
when it almost seems
safe to feel
it almost seems like
trouble’s not real

Thank God when they come
Dammit when they’re gone
but there’s still no choice
but to carry it on
