No Wonder

With her eyes like candles
in a midnight room
and her mouth like a flower
in springtime bloom
with her skin like a magnet
and her hands like charms
is it any wonder
that I love her?

With her heart like Christmas
fifty two weeks a year
and her voice like a melody
that you always want to hear
with her mind like a freeway
and her rest stop smile
Is it any wonder that I love her?

Is it any wonder, when she makes me feel
like the man I always wanted to be?
That small part of me worth bothering with
is the part that she always sees

With her vision of the future
untarnished by the past
she knows that pain and pleasure
are two things that never last
with her antebellum grace
and her cameo face
is it any wonder that I love her?

With a grasp of the hard facts
that you only learn by living
in spite of everything she’s seen
somehow she keeps on giving
with the strength of her faith
she’ll do what it takes
is it any wonder that I lover her?
