It happens so fast
a face goes swirling by
you see an outstretched hand
you may hear a desperate cry
but the current is so swift and strong
and you can’t even swim
so there is nothing you can
really do to save them
without losing yourself
so you offer a frantic prayer
that around the bend
God waits there.

The Force and I
are rather disturbed
by all the good
kicked to the curb
so much abandoned
in the searing rain
all the pain in the world
is a lot of pain
you can’t carry it all
so put it down
what good would it do
for another to drown?

After the flood
after the storm
the sun will shine
and make you warm
in a glen by the ruins
of trials endured
their memory the
warning songs of birds
